
Composer, Arranger & Lyricist
Composer/Arranger/Lyricist John Cameron spans genres from jazz, through folk, pop to classical and film to musicals. Over 50 Film and TV Movie scores include the Oscar-nominated A Touch of Class, the British classic Kes, The Ruling Class, Jack the Ripper, and the Emmy-nominated Path to 9/11. In the theatre John is best known for the original Orchestral Score for Les Miserables which won him Drama Desk (New York Critics) and National Broadway Theatre awards. Other theatre shows he has collaborated on include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Zorro the Musical (co-composed with the Gipsy Kings – Olivier Nomination.)
Recording artists he has worked with include Jose Carreras, Donovan, Hot Chocolate, Ella Fitzgerald, and Heatwave, and songwriting credits include Tap Turns on the Water & Brother for his own band, CCS, If I Thought You’d Ever Change Your Mind a hit for Cilla Black and Agnetha Faltskog, and Sweet Inspiration (Johnny Johnson & the Bandwagon). John’s concert works include the cantata Missa Celtica recorded with the English Chamber Orchestra and the choir of New College Oxford.
